Perfect for a mystery with a 1040 form on the cover.

NaNoWriMo 2018: the Midpoint

I'm at about 37K words, just past the halfway mark in terms of time. I know where the story is going and I have a clear path to victory. I'll be glad when I've finished dumping Meet Muriel into the computer and have the month of December to achieve a necessary emotional distance from the work. January will bring some intense rewriting. I know that already, given the multiple plot threads I've established during the dumping process. Lots of tune up needed, but this story deserves it. A lot more character development in this one, but maybe still plot driven, which is okay by me.

The trilogy is complete! Invasive Species is done!

It took way longer than I expected to gather feedback from my editors and beta readers, but I finally assembled their pushbacks, corrections and complaints. My rewrite/editing satisfied the ones that made sense and yet left the story the way I wanted to tell it, only better. Invasive Species: Food Chain joins it's brothers at Amazon in both paperback and Kindle ebook formats.

Do I have another 50k+ words in me?

I'm doing the research and planning for my NaNoWriMo 2018 experience. The working title is Meet Muriel. More later.

Don't sweat the small stuff

Two of my short stories were accepted by the 2018 edition of East on Central, a journal of words and pictures. At the publication paerty, I was honored to be asked to read the one submitted under the special topic of Our Town, Municipal Directions.

Busy at the keyboard

Since the end of last year, I rewrote my NaNoWriMo 2017 effort into another released work called Off The Books, available at Amazon in paperback and ebook. And over the summer of 2018, Don Meyer and I wrote a piece called Cold Shoulder, available at the same place. That makes my novel count six released. Invasive Species: Food Chain, the last book in the trilogy, is weeks away from release, but I should advise "before the end of the year" to be safe.

So, what have I been up to?

It's been a while - a long while - but I've been quite busy. You see, the single novel INVASIVE SPECIES grew into a trilogy. Books one and two have been released for purchase at CreateSpace (which is essentially Amazon) in both paperback and ebook varieties. Book three is complete and undergoing appropriate editing. It should be available Spring, 2018.

The three books continue the exploits of the same characters, but in each book they face new and demanding challenges.

Dead Grass?

Who would ever write a novel about dead grass?  Yours truly.
But it isn't just about dead grass.  It's about four people (using the term loosely) - a desk bound EPA agent in Washington, DC, a high school senior in Brooklyn, NY, a college freshman in Eureka, CA and a hobo (actually, an alien plant who looks like a human) in Kearney, NE - and fifty-foot ribbon of dead grass spreading across the country.
Stay tuned for news as this new creation gets the editing it deserves.
